Yesterday I had a pleasure to enjoy fine dining – I got roasted like a chicken and got fined on Yanan Lu on my way back from a race that I was shooting the whole day in 40-45C! But this is not a story about me, this is a story about the racers who had to compete in such crazy conditions! Respect to all of them, it was super hard. Venue was same as last year’s race, road race and TTT. Road race started with Masters smashing all the way through when conditions were still bearable. After Masters we had Elite guys, when already Sun was set high and roasting everything. People were struggling, it was really hard. Unfortunately not much shade on the track, especially around noon with Sun at its highest point. TTT was afternoon but you could already notice the damage that was done before lunch. Faces were telling you everything… also my arms and legs going reddishbrownish lol. But it was fun in the end! There was some problem with Ed Cork’s chip (awesome performance, fighting to the last meter and getting fifth place) as he was not listed in the results but finally all was sorted out.
Again congrats to all participants, respect for the effort! Hope to see you at the next race!
